Enhancements to StockPricesII
Most of these changes were requested from YOU, the 2000+ current users of the original
StockPrices.
- allows the user to retrieve all prices for a stock (over came Yahoos
restriction)
- added a preference file to save your custom settings
- allows the use of dd/mm/yyyy format and converts it to mm/dd/yyyy
for Metastock
- works with any hard drive on your computer
- can schedule StockPricesII to retrieve prices at a specific
hour during the day or night
- removed the Quote.com feature
To Retrieve Stock Prices:
Start StockPricesII program.
Login is demo and password is
sp2

1) Enter the date range.
2) Click Browse to select the folder to store the StockPrices.txt result
file in.
3) Enter a stock symbol
4) Click Retrieve Prices.
The data will appear in the viewer window and be saved to disk.
To add these stock prices to Metastock:
Start the Metastock DownLoader program. Click Tools, Click Convert.
Click Options.
Select the Periodicity for the stock prices you downloaded.
Make sure the following are checked (on):
Append Data to End of File (if the file exists, add to it)
Replace Matching Dates (if there are existing prices, replace
them with new ones)
Create New Files (if the files do not exist, create new ones)
Click OK to return to the first window of download options.
Source:
Select ASCII Text.
Browse to the folder where you downloaded the file
StockPrices.txt to. Select this file.
Destination:
Select MetaStock.
Select the folder where you store your Metastock files.
Click OK.
The DownLoader program will remember all these settings so you will
only have to click the Convert short cut icon on the tool bar, then click
OK.
To retrieve multiple stock prices at once:
The StockPricesII program is capable of retrieving many stock symbols at
once. The DownLoader program is able to update multiple stock prices
at once also.
To use this feature - Open the Microsoft program called Notepad (Start,
Programs, Accessories, Notepad) In the new window type your stock symbols.
Follow each stock symbol with the enter key. See the example below.

When done, save this file in the same folder that you used to retrieve
the stock prices in. Name the file as SPRetrieve.txt. Now when
you use the StockPricesII program do not enter a stock symbol just click
Retrive Prices. The StockPricesII program will automatically search
for the file SPRetrieve.txt to determine which stocks to retrieve prices
for. The Metastock Downloader will update all stocks retirieved at
once.
Once you get used to using the StockPricesII program and the Metastock Downloader
you will be able to retrieve multiple stock prices with just a few mouse
clicks.
